Course Objectives
The Certificate in Advance English for Young Tourism Professionals programme encrypted students the language and skills needed to communicate effectively and confidently, especially in the tourism and hospitality industries.
The programme aims to develop the student’s appropriate use of English in terms of accuracy, facility and fluency. It serves as a preparatory course designed to prepare non-English speakers who do not meet the minimum English language requirement for TMIS programmes.
Learners are introduced to English grammar and vocabulary through the four core competencies in speaking, listening, writing and reading which are conceptualised within a thematic interactive approach framework and this forms the structure of the course.

There are three levels: Level 1 (Elementary), Level 2 (Intermediate) and Level 3 (Advanced).
Certification
Upon successful completion, the Certificate in Advanced English for Young Tourism Professionals Level 2 (Intermediate) will be awarded by TMIS. Students will be able to progress to the next level.

Introduction
This course is jointly developed by Tourism Management Institute of Singapore (TMIS). This programme cover the knowledge and skills in conducting pre-tour briefings for outbound travel groups, lead tour groups across international borders and providing service recovery for emergencies and tour group conflicts during outbound travel. Upon completion of the course, you may apply for a NATAS Tour Leader badge with NATAS registry.

Duration
- 40 hours
- 5 days (Full-Time)
- 5 weeks (Part-Time)
Mode of Instruction
This 40-hours course uses:
- Mini lectures – to succinctly explain the concepts and theories
- Interactive activities – Group discussions on knowledge and procedural process.
- Field Trips – For experiential learning at the airport & cruise terminal.
- Group and individual exercises for practical activities including role-plays.
- Independent learning sessions to practice skills and evaluate own progress based on case-studies and games.
- Mutual sharing and feedback on performance through all formal and informal learning activities and games.
- Trainer-Student Ratio – 1:20
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course and passing all assessments, participant will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) by SSG.
